GEO agency roundup

Best GEO agencies, ranked on what they disclose.

We are an agency writing a list of agencies, so start with that. Rather than rank other people's work, which we have never seen, we scored 23 GEO agencies on four things you can verify on their own websites in ten minutes. We are in the list too, at the bottom of our own band.

Agency facts checked September 3, 2026. Competing lists read September 17, 2026.

The conflict of interest, before the list.

EZ Web sells generative engine optimization. This page exists because a roundup is one of the page types AI assistants quote when a buyer asks which agency to hire, and we would like to be quoted. That is the honest reason, and you should read the list knowing it.

There is one thing nobody publishing a list like this can do, us included: rank agencies by the results they get clients. We have not hired any of these companies. We have no access to their client data. Neither does any other publisher on page one. A list that claims to rank agencies by performance is ranking something it has not measured.

So this list measures the one thing that is actually checkable from outside: what each agency tells you before you sign. Four questions, asked of every agency on the same date, ours included. It is a weaker claim than "the best," and it is one you can audit yourself.

Original research

Who writes the GEO agency lists.

On September 17, 2026 we read all ten pages ranking on page one of Google and Bing for best geo agencies, start to finish. We were looking for one thing: who published each list, and whether the publisher put itself on it.

  • Seven of the ten were published by a company that sells the service being ranked.
  • All seven listed themselves. Six put themselves at number one. The seventh, Position Digital, put itself second.
  • Two of the ten told the reader they were ranking themselves. Stratabeat opens by saying the list is theirs, they are first on it, and you have "a right to be skeptical." Onely prints a disclosure line above its list. Nobody else mentions it.
  • Nutshell is the odd one. It is a CRM, not an agency, so it does not appear on its own list. It ranks WebFX first. WebFX owns Nutshell and says so in its own announcement, and the page footer does read "Proudly brought to you by WebFX," but the WebFX entry itself never mentions the relationship and slips into the first person while praising it.
  • The lists barely agree. They run from 7 names to 25. Siege Media appears on six of the ten, Omniscient Digital on five, Go Fish Digital and First Page Sage on four each. Nothing else appears on more than three.

None of this makes those lists worthless. Stratabeat and Onely in particular publish real criteria and real case study numbers, and both say out loud that they ranked themselves. It does mean that a buyer reading page one is reading seven sales pages in list format, and only two of them say so.

How we scoredthe 23.

The 23 agencies are the ones we had already read closely for our comparison pages, each one checked on September 3, 2026 by reading the company's own website. Every row below links to the full write-up, including the parts that do not flatter us.

Each agency gets one point per question, so the score runs 0 to 4:

  • Does the site say it measures which AI assistants cite you? Ten of the 23 do. This is the service being sold, so a site that never claims to measure it is selling the strategy without the scoreboard.
  • Does it name the engines it covers? Sixteen name at least one. The rest say "AI search" and leave you to guess whether that means ChatGPT only or eight engines. It matters, because the engines disagree with each other constantly.
  • Does it publish a starting price? Six do. The other seventeen route you to a form. A published price is not a low price, it is a number you can compare before spending an hour on a call.
  • Does it say a named human reviews the work? Three do. Google's guidance is indifferent to who wrote a page and hard on whether it is accurate and useful, so "AI writes it, nobody checks it" is a risk you are entitled to price.

What this score does not tell you: whether the work is good. An agency that answers nothing here can still be excellent. Seer Interactive and Directive answer none of the four, and both are long established firms with reputations we are in no position to argue with. A published price tells you nothing about the quality of the work behind it. We are not rating anyone's work here, and we have not hired any of them.

"Not stated" means the company's site does not say. It is not an accusation, and several of these companies may well do the thing without publishing it.

The list

Twenty-three GEO agencies, plus us.

Grouped by score, alphabetical inside each group. There is no number one. Four agencies tie at the bottom and seven tie in the middle, and a disclosure score is not a quality ranking, so naming a winner would be inventing a result the method cannot produce.

EZ Web answers all four, which puts us in the top group. We put ourselves last inside it. Passing a test we wrote is not evidence, and we would rather say that than bury it.

Where wecome up short.

A list is worth nothing if the publisher only lists its own advantages. Here is what the four questions do not capture, all of it in our competitors' favor:

  • We have no third-party review profile. No Clutch page, no G2 listing, no verified review count. Several agencies on this list have years of them. Our proof is a page of named clients and their live sites at ezweb.dev/results, which you have to take on trust in a way a review platform does not require.
  • We are small and founder-run. Ezra Pinsky reviews the work. That is the reason we can answer question four, and it is also the reason we cannot staff a named account team of twelve.
  • We publish no AI visibility score for ourselves. We hold our own measurements until two consecutive monthly runs exist, and we are not there yet. Stratabeat and Onely both publish client citation numbers today. We do not.
  • Our engine coverage is wide but not complete. We observe ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Grok and Copilot in real sessions, and we label Google's AI answers as modeled wherever we cannot observe them directly. Our methodology page spells out which is which.

When to hire someone else

  • Enterprise, with in-house engineering to coordinate: iPullRank or Seer Interactive. Neither publishes a price, and Seer does not name the engines it reads, but both have depth and enterprise history we do not.
  • You want everything from one vendor, site included: Single Stop Marketing, the only agency of the 23 that answers all four questions, with sites from $999.
  • Smallest budget: PikaSEO starts at $299, and Gatilab runs from Rs 25,000 a month if you are in India.
  • Strategy rather than execution: Optimist sells a $7,500 roadmap and advisory retainers, and says plainly that it does not produce the content.
  • Closest to how we work: Word of GPT names five engines and states human review. If you want a second quote alongside ours, start there.
Questions

What buyers ask us about this list.

What is a GEO agency?

An agency that works on whether AI assistants such as ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude and Google's AI answers name your business when someone asks them for a recommendation. Generative engine optimization is the usual name for it. Answer engine optimization and AI SEO mean roughly the same thing, and the agencies use all three interchangeably. In practice most of the work is ordinary SEO, plus measurement of what the assistants actually say about you.

Is EZ Web ranked first on its own list?

No. We answer all four questions, so we sit in the top group, and we placed ourselves last inside it. We did not name a number one at all. Several agencies tie on every band, and the score measures what a company publishes rather than what it achieves, so a winner would be a number the method cannot support.

Does this rank agencies by results?

No, and neither does any other list on page one, whatever they say. Ranking by results would need client data from 23 competitors. The four criteria here are things you can verify yourself on each agency's website in about ten minutes, which is the point.

How much does a GEO agency cost?

Only six of the 23 publish a starting price. Those run from $299 for a fixed-price service to $7,500 for a one-time strategy engagement, with monthly retainers between $1,250 and $4,000. The other seventeen send you to a contact form. Our own prices are on the pricing page.

How often do you update this?

Both dates are printed on the page, and they move when the data does. Sites change: an agency that publishes a price next month gets the point next month. If you find a row that is out of date, tell us and we will recheck it.

Can I get paid placement on this list?

No. Nobody paid to be here and nobody can. The list is every agency we have already written a comparison page about, scored on the same four questions.
